10 IFSS Track 2: Safety
 Session 2A: A "Just" Culture
  2/3/2010     9:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  Seminar Description:
A “just” culture promotes a blameless environment where individuals openly share their errors so all may learn. It’s a culture where it is OK for people to make an honest mistake, so long as they admit the mistake and willingly engage in helping the organization to further “error-proof” its work processes, with the intention of helping others avoid making that same or a similar mistake in the future. When something goes wrong, the focus is on what, rather than who, is the problem. The intent is to bring process weaknesses, failures, and system issues to light, and to solve them in a nonbiased, transparent, and non-threatening manner. It includes topics of accountability, human performance, and learning.
